Final Project

My final project is finished as far as the actual powerpoint presentation goes. All I have left is to write my paper for the project. My final project presentation is on different interactive websites that go along with the science standards. I will be presenting my presentation at the first inservice when I go back to school.

I have found some wonderful sites that are interactive for kids. Students will be able to come to the smartboard to work on the lessons or they could go to a computer lab and each child work individually. I love that many of the sites have sounds and they talk to the students as they are completing different parts of the lessons.

I have included sites that go along with lessons about weather and animals. I will later go back and add more slides that go along with circuits, magnets, solar system, and reviews of all 4th grade standards.

I liked being able to learn how to add sounds to the slideshow!! What a great way to keep the audience involved.

What I learned and my process in this course!!

Well this course is almost over! I can't believe how fast this weekend went by!! ;) I feel like I have definitely deepend my knowledge on many subject areas that I have learned about in this class. My absolute favorite thing has been without a doubt learning how to use PhotoShop. I have not been able to purchase the program yet, but I am going to for sure! I have shown many people the wonderful pictures that I was able to change and do things to, to create my collages. I love them and everyone else does as well. I have even had a few people tell me that they would pay me to create them some pictures and collages with the program! I definitely feel that I will be doing many things from now on with PhotoShop.

I feel that I have definitely met my goal of using Power Point to create a slide show about interactive websites for science. I have completed my slideshow presentation and I am very pleased with it! I also met my goal of completing my story board that goes along with my slideshow.

As for my Kidspiration goal of learning how to use the program. I have met that goal as well. I feel that I have learned many new and wonderful aspects of the program, and I was even able to discover some great new things on the program on my own! I would like to purchase the program for my classroom. There were some great activities on there that my children would love!

I also now know what a podcast is! I feel that I have learned a lot through this course and I have enjoyed it very much!!

YAY I met a goal of learning Kidspiration!

Here is what I have created!!!! I am very proud! This is a diagram that shows all of the teams my team (Southern Thunder) compete with in the South Carolina Clogging Council and where they are from!!
If I had this program, I would use it for many different things! I would use it for graphic organizers and brainstorming. I would also use the activities to go along with things I am teaching. I could have the students use the lap tops at their desk and I could be using it on the smartboard and we could create things together!!!

Technology Classroom in 50 Years!!

Yesterday we were asked to have read an article that discussed the Multiple Intelligences and how they work with technology. I said that if a student learned best with the musical intelligence then the students could put their knowledge that was learned into music. They could also use digital technology and media to record present information and have it played on the smartboard with a background music. Students could also maybe insert themselves in 50 years into a learning environment through some type of projecting media. Maybe students wanted to go to the desert. They could use some type of projector to put the image of their body into a desert, like they were actually there exploring it.

A question that was asked to my group was did we feel that the definition of multiple intelligences would evolve, and yes we definitely feel that it will! Now in 2008 we are pushing so hard towards differentiated learning for each child that I can only imagine in 50 years how far that will have been pushed. Maybe their will be classes that are labeled the different intelligences and according to how students learn best, they would be placed in those classes. I know that this is a sort of labeling, and we as educators have tried to get away from that, but we can only imagine how far this may go!!

Goals for Weekend Two

Hello everyone I am back! We are in our second weekend of the technology class. I am very tired and I can honestly say that this weekend will probably be a struggle because it has been a crazy week and I do not felt like I have slept that much at all and now I am having to sit in class from 8am til 5pm Saturday and Sunday! Oh well, I guess I just need to put on my big girl panties and deal with it!

Some goals that I am wanting to meet this weekend are....
1. Creating my power point that shows different websites that are interactive and can be used on the smartboard in class to help teach Science.
2. I also want to go ahead and finish my story board for my power point and begin the paper/reationale that goes along with it. I have so much going on in the upcoming weeks that I do not want to have to be bogged down with an extreme amount of work from school.
3. I would also like to learn about the kidspirtation and kid pix programs. I am not familiar with them at all so it will be a challenge for me to master these programs but I have heard wonderful things about them and I look forward to getting a start in those programs.
4. My final goal for the weekend is to allow myself to learn what a podcast is. My ipod is not something that I went out and bought for myself. As a matter of fact I won it in a dance competition and had I not won it I would probably not own it. I am not really sure how to get the songs, games, and videos onto my ipod and I have no idea how to work with podcasts. So it should be interesteing to learn how to work with them.

Goals are Met!!

I feel that I have really and truly met my goals that I had set for myself. I am 100% addicted to Photoshop Elements and I can not wait to get home and share the pictures with my family! Even more than that I am wanting to get the program so that I may continue my editing for my family and firends. I really enjoyed learning all of the elements that go along with photoshopping. I especially like that I can get rid of imperfections in pictures! That is great!!!

I am super excited to create a classroom blog with my classroom next year. I am going to have a 4th grade Banks Blog and then add my students as different authors. Then as we have computer lab time or when they are at home, they can add to the blog and reflect on different things. I also think that it will be an awesome incentive. I can have them not only be able blog, but use so that they can only blog if they earn that reward. I know that the students will absolutely love it and they will have to earn.

As far as the photo elements, I plan on using this in school for my yearbook. I am going to be co-editor of the yearbook next year and I think that this will be a great tool for me to have!

Thanks So Much for allowing me to learn so me great and wonderful things!!

Until next time.........

Photoshop Elements

No Problem Mon!! Welcome to Jamaica!!

This is my second creation I hae made that used PhotoShop 5.0. I absolutely loved every minute of learning this program. As a matter of fact, I would like to purchase the program for my own peersonal use.
I used several steps in this picture. I started with creating a new photo album page. Then I chose to have 2 images with a soft image for the pictures. After it pulled it up, I chose the fern background that reminded me of Jamaica. The background was really beautiful but it needed just a bit more, so I added the graphic pictures in the corner. The next step I took was to crop and add my pictures into my background. The pictures were a bit to small so I had to enlarge them to make it the size that I wanted. After I was satisfied with the pictures I added some text. I just went with a darker green to go along with the filter of the background. I ended up adding an inner shadow to the text, to give it some depth.
Like I said earlier, I really really enjoyed working with this program and I can not wait to have it at home to be able to create pictures for my family and friends!
